StarFire
Trailers offers options based on your needs and requirements.
Since we are a new venture, our option list will grow
as we learn what you, our customers, need or want in a
trailer. Keep in
mind that our basic trailer system is designed to keep your
costs low by designing it to the lowest weight, yet being more
than adequate, structurally, for its given purpose.
Also,
StarFire Trailers are designed for those using HDPE guns,
which keep the costs low for both our company and yours.
We assume that most companies are now using HDPE
instead of steel guns, and we design our trailers that way.
This DOES NOT mean you cannot use steel guns with our
trailers. The combined axle capacity of our 16' trailer is 5,000 lbs.,
and the 20' and 24' capacity is 8,000 lbs.
We use the industry standard 60/40 design for axle
placement, which will provide safe and stable towing
characteristics no matter what guns you use.
Likewise,
the lifting mechanisms for the pivot platforms have a rating
capacity of #4,000 each. There are two per pivot platform (on
the 16 foot model), which provide exceptional stability and
strength. As a standard, we limit the maximum angle of the
pivot platforms to 25 degrees from vertical.
You, more
than anyone, know that most every facet of the pyro industry
is highly regulated, and this places a monetary burden on the
entire industry, costs of which are usually passed on to your
customers. We
have a list of the trailer requirements for each state, such
as minimum trailer weights which require brakes.
This is usually at the #3,000 level.
Our 16 foot trailer, for example, comes in at around #2,800,
so there could be brakes on only one axle.
We will put brakes on both axles if you wish, and we
feel certain that all-axle brakes will become the norm in the
near future. All other trailers will have brakes on
both axles!
We keep
up-to-date information on Federal DOT lighting requirements
and install the minimum required lighting as per those
requirements. We will, at your option, install whatever
type connector you need for trailer lights and/or
brakes. We will assume that the connector on your towing
vehicle(s) are wired according to industry standards/color
codes. If your
connector is not wired to those standards, please send us a
pin-out diagram of your connector. Also, if possible,
let us know what make, model, and year you will use as a
towing vehicle, and whether the connector is a 6 or 7, flat or
round pin configuration.
Current
expected options include:
1.
Aluminum, steel or hardwood decking is available, and
we recommend one layer of the premium fire-rated 3/4"
plywood
as a top
surface for all wood deck material.
2. No rails or
rails of whatever height you require
3. Heavy duty
trailer jacks are available for all four corners of the
trailers we build, and we recommend them for all of our
trailers
4. Electric or
hydraulic brakes on one or both axles, depending on your
state's DMV codes
5. "Bearing
Buddy"-type axle bearing grease units on the axle hubs
are standard. Large capacity axles have "Never-Lube"
or oil-bath type lubrication as an option.
6.
Pivot decks can be installed so they both pivot in the
same direction.
